The Institute of Mathematics and Basic Science is responsible for the development of course programmes and education of courses in mathematics, biometrics, applied statistics, furthermore introductory physics and chemistry.
Although the Institute does not have a training programme under its own supervision, it is involved in nearly 40 training programmes with at least one course focusing on the special requirements of the specific programmes. We are committed to providing the students with the most up-to-date teaching methodologies applying modern digitalization techniques, helping them in developing high-level problem-solving and data analysis skills.
The members of our institute are dedicated to offer high-quality introductory courses that provide the students with solid background for their further studies in their programmes. Since our courses are mainly present in the first two semesters, the number of students attending to them is relatively high.
Beyond our courses offered for BSc and MSc students, doctoral students can also find several high-level courses that were developed for their special requirements. The PhD courses in advanced statistics are among the most popular ones. Talent management is also in our focus. We organize extra courses and competitions as well. The Institute plays an active role in supporting the students in their preparation of BSc, MSc or PhD level theses, mainly with consultations in statistical analysis.
Our staff members are also regular participants in science popularization events.
